5 Facts About GIT’s Astrophotography Tools

Sharpstar offer a range of Telescopes including the Sharpstar and Askar brands. The products comprise quality APO
refractors aimed at providing quality astrographs with novel implementations. For example, the Askar V provides 2
objective lenses and 3 adapters providing the user with 6 different focal lenghts. equating to multiple Telescopes.

In order track the stars you need a quality mount. In offering ZWO’s AM5 and AM3 strain wave based mounts we can
provide you with a light quality mount making your system easily transportable should you wish to image in different
locations. With payloads of up to 20kg (with counter balance) they compete with far heavier German Equatorial mounts

In order to image you need a camera:. You can start your journey with a DSLR or mirrorless camera. Should you wish to
embark on upgrading to a cooled astro camera we are able to assist you with ZWO cooled Deep Sky One Shot colour
(OSC) or monochrome cameras which can be computer controlled along with your mount.

Once you have your astrograph, mount and camera you need a computer system to control the integrated devices. We
can offer the Asiair, a Rasberry Pi solution from ZWO which controls all your devices and manages the image capture
process via a smartphone or tablet application. Once the data has been captred it can then be wirelessly transferrred to
your computer for stacking and processing.

In order to take long deep sky exposures, you would typically attach a smaller guide scope and camera to your rig. This is
then used to ensure that your main imaging scope and mount remain on track to ensure you get sharp accurate long
exposures. In addition we can help you with advice and peripherals to enhance your experience.
