Askar Off-Axis Guider
Improve your guiding with Askar's Off-Axis Guider
(OAG)! The prism of this M54 off-axis guider
measures 10 mm x 10 mm. This larger area allows
the OAG to collect more light and makes it easier to
acquire the targeted star for automatic guiding. No
need for a separate guide scope.
On the telescope side, the Askar Off-Axis Guider
can be attached to M54 threads with the included
front gasket, or to M48 or M42 threads with the
included adapters. Similarly, the camera side can
be attached to M54, M48, or M42 with the included
camera adapters. In addition, each camera adapter
can be used in conjunction with an included 18 mm
extender. The size of this OAG makes it a good fit
for use with full frame cameras.
The OAG is made from CNC machined materials in
a matte black finish. It includes an integrated helical
focuser that has a journey of 10 mm. The focuser
has a 1.25" adapter with M42x0.75 external threads
to accommodate a guide camera. The thickness of
the guider itself (for back focus calculation) is 19.5
mm.
Guide Cameras and Guide Scopes
A guide camera is a small camera that is used to
guide a telescope during astrophotography. It is
used in conjunction with a guide scope to track the
movement of the stars and keep them centered in
the field of view
